Job Description

DMS is seeking a Publications Assistant to work with our learning services team. The Publications Assistant will be assisting the Publications Manager to ensure quality control which includes editorial review, design, layout, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and policy maintenance of classroom or technology-based courseware and materials as well as performance and job aids. These materials will include web-based publications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all desktop publishing for training materials and other documents
  • Oversee and ensure quality control of classroom or technology-based courseware and materials as well as performance and job aids
  • Edits, reviews, and create training materials and other documents
  • Write, proofread, and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, marketing materials and related publications in support of instructor delivery/services
  • Prepares training materials for print
  • Design graphics to enhance training materials and other documents
  • Ensure current course materials are available for clients and instructional staff via KSN and OneDrive
  • Archive course documents, type memoranda, letters, scripts, lesson plans, reports, and various types of training materials, as well as training publications and course control documentation, with duties frequently involving extensive use of macros and imbedded graphics
  • Maintain a publications library

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and SharePoint
  • 3 years of experience in design and development of courseware
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative to solve problems and complete tasks as they arise
  • Prior knowledge of U.S. Government contracting process is preferred but not required
  • Experience in a learning environment strongly preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning, Education, or other areas of study comparably relevant to the management of this effort, from a regionally accredited college or university.
