Job Description

DMS is currently seeking Master at Arms “A” School Basic Security Fundamentals (BSF) Support Swim Tester/Lifeguard Instructors. Master at Arms “A” School BSF Support Swim Tester/Lifeguard Instructors will perform classroom and field laboratory support for high-risk training evolutions at the Master at Arms Class “A” School and are certified as Navy Swim Testers and lifeguards.

Responsibilities

Master at Arms “A” School BSF Support Swim Tester/Lifeguard Instructors deliver formalized training support in the areas of Law Enforcement Specialist and Antiterrorism/Security and deliver tests to selected students for Second Class Swimmers to Navy personnel at the Master at Arms Class “A” School. They also deliver CPR training and assist in the delivery of non-weapons lesson modules.

All Master at Arms “A” School BSF Support Swim Tester/Lifeguard Instructors must be familiar with applicable Navy rules, regulations, and other requirements as listed in the Training Course Control Document (TCCD) for all courses being delivered and may be required to attend in-service training which is designed to update contractor personnel on Government rules, regulations, and other requirements.

Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Obtain a suitable evaluation for mandatory medical, psychological, and drug screenings.
• Have no record of criminal convictions.
• Possess an active state driver’s license.
• Have 2 years of experience as an instructor delivering training.
• Have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques to include classroom management, Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs), and student motivation.
• Have knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation.
• Possess high personal standards of technical knowledge and professional competence in delivering training material.
• Possess the ability to perform in a military environment.
• Possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure.
• Possess a knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/installation environments and configurations.
• Possess an excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
• Possess above average communication skills and the ability to comprehend both verbal and written instructions.
• Be personally capable of performing all training evolutions including the ability to effectively complete weapons qualifications in the standing, kneeling and prone positions, ascend or descend ladders and go through narrow passageways, and be free of any abnormal fear of heights.
• Possess one (or more) of the basic instructor qualifications as listed below:
o Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) (A-012-0077) (or military service equivalent)
o Academic credentialing (teacher/professor).
o Instructor training via an academic institution which includes:
 Effective communication and questioning techniques
 Adult learning theory and principles
 Instructional Delivery methods
 Lesson delivery performance laboratory
 Training environment management
 Inter-personal skills
 Evaluation and Feedback
• Possess or obtain CENSECFOR provided instructor qualification training and certification as a Non-Lethal Weapons – Basic Instructor (NLW BI)
• Possess Navy NEC 805A (Instructor) (or equivalency)
• Possess one (or more) of the following qualifications:
o Navy NEC 806A (9504) (Naval Aviation Water Survival Instructor); or
o Navy NEC 808A (9510) (Navy Swimming and Water Survival Instructor); or
o Completion of Navy Swim Tester Course (A-012-0015)
• Possess current certification as a lifeguard. Lifeguard certification requires one of the following:
o Completion of one of the following courses of instruction:
 American Red Cross Lifeguard Training; or
 YMCA Lifeguard Training; or
 Ellis and Associates Water Park Training; or
o Possession of one of the following military qualifications:
 Navy NEC 801A (Navy Rescue Swimmer – Surface)
 Navy NEC O26A (Special Warfare Operator (SEAL))
 Navy NEC 840A (Navy Scuba Diver)
 Navy NEC O50A (Special Warfare Boat Operator (SB) Candidate)
 Navy NEC O52A (Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC))
 Navy NEC G02A (Helicopter Search and Rescue Aircrew Swimmer)
 Navy NEC 806A (Aviation Water Survival Instructor)
 Navy NEC 808A (Basic Swimming and Water Survival Instructor)
 USMC MOS 0918 (Water Safety/Survival Instructor)
• Possess current certification in Tier 2 Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)
• Possess current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Possess current certification as a CPR Instructor Certification
• Have one or more of the following documented professional experience areas.
o Have performed as a certified federal, state, or municipal law enforcement officer with a minimum of 5 years operational patrol experience with a civilian law enforcement agency, or
o Have been certified with a minimum of 5 years operational patrol experience with a military law enforcement agency; or
o Have instructed military law enforcement or military security tactics within the previous two (2) years.
