Job Description
DMS is currently seeking Master at Arms “A” School Weapons-Based Course (WB) Instructors. Master at Arms “A” School Weapons-Based Course (WB) Instructors will perform classroom and field laboratory support for high-risk, weapons-based training evolutions at the Master at Arms Class “A” School.
Responsibilities
Master at Arms “A” School WB Instructors deliver formalized training support in the areas of Navy small arms weapons training program to Navy personnel at the Master at Arms Class “A” School
All Master at Arms “A” School WB Instructors must be familiar with applicable Navy rules, regulations, and other requirements as listed in the Training Course Control Document (TCCD) for all courses being delivered and may be required to attend in-service training which is designed to update contractor personnel on Government rules, regulations, and other requirements.
Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Obtain a suitable evaluation for mandatory medical, psychological, and drug screenings.
• Have no record of criminal convictions.
• Possess an active state driver’s license.
• Possess at least two years of past military experience in a weapons-carrying and employment in an operational environment or equivalent experience as a Law Enforcement officer with a military or civilian security force.
• Be personally capable of performing all training evolutions including the ability to effectively complete weapons qualifications in the standing, kneeling and prone positions, ascend or descend ladders and go through narrow passageways, and be free of any abnormal fear of heights.
• Possess a basic understanding of Military/Civilian Security Force techniques.
• Be qualified as a small arms weapons instructor possessing one or more of the following certifications.
o Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (SAMI) Course (A-041-0148) – NEC 0812
o Expeditionary Small Arms Marksmanship Course (A-060-0005)
o Marine Corps Marksmanship Instructor Course – MOS 0931
o DoD Equivalent Small Arms Course
o Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Small Arms Instructor Course.
o A Non-DoD Small Arms Course equivalent approved by OPNAV Ashore Readiness Division (OPNAV N46) after CENSECFOR review of the course of instruction.
• Possess current qualification with the type of weapons and courses of fire that they instruct.
• Possess above average communication skills and the ability to comprehend both verbal and written instructions.
• Be a qualified instructor with 2 years’ experience delivering training.
• Be a qualified instructor in accordance with the specific requirements identified that follow.
o Have attended the Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) (A-012-0077) (or military service or civilian equivalent), or
o Academic credentialing (teacher/professor), or
o Instructor training via an academic institution.
Academic ITC requirements should contain at a minimum 24-semester credit or quarter hours in the following:
• Effective communication and questioning techniques
• Adult learning theory and principles
• Instructional Delivery methods
• Lesson delivery performance laboratory
• Training environment management
• Inter-personal skills
• Evaluation and Feedback
o Have knowledge of basic and advanced training techniques to include classroom management, Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs), and student motivation.
o Have knowledge of computer technology application as it applies to instructional presentation.
o Possess high personal standards of technical knowledge and professional competence in delivering training material.
o Possess the ability to perform in a military environment.
o Possess a familiarity with the organization and hierarchy of the U. S. Navy, military rank/grade structure.
o Possess a knowledge of Navy and military terminology, and shipboard/installation environments and configurations.
o Possess an excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
